Today the students learned about Nutrients and what the six basic classes of nutrients are - Carbohydrates, Proteins, Fats, Vitamins, Minerals, and Water. Nutrients are "chemical substances in foods that furnish fuel for energy, provide materials needed for building and maintenance of body tissues, and/or supply substances that function in the regulation of body process". Your body needs to right combination of nutrients to grow and work properly. These nutrients are the most important types of nutrients that the body gets from food.
Students turned in their "Obesity In A Bottle" packets, including their "Drinking Log" - they were due today.
Homework - Purchase a heart rate monitor strap ($5.00) in the main office if you haven't already.
