Thursday November 12 (Health)

Starter #2- "...If you focus on the negative in any situation, you can expect high stress levels. However, if you try and see the good in the situation, your stress levels will greatly diminish." --Catherine Pulsipher

Today we finished our unit on Stress Management. Students learned about our body's physical reactions as the result of too much stress, also known as the "Fight or Flight Body Response". When people become stressed, the body goes through certain changes, and different reactions occur. Students then participated in a stress activity. Key points to remember from the activity are that, when you're stressed, you might not realize it at first, or how much it's affecting you physically, mentally, and socially. When you hold on to stress for a long time, it can start to take a toll on your life and day-to-day functions.

Take Away: Learn how to get rid of stress and identify the body's physical reactions to too much stress (Fight or Flight).
*Continuous Learning* - Learn the physical effects of stress and stress management techniques.

Homework - Purchase a heart rate monitor strap ($5.00) in the main office if you haven't already.
