Tuesday December 8 (Health)

Starter #4- "The Six Dietary Guidelines:
1.) Eat a variety of foods.
2.) Maintain a healthy weight.
3.) Eat a low-fat diet.
4.) Try to eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible.
5.) Use moderate (small) amounts of sugar.
6.) Use as little sodium (salt) as possible."

Today we learned about the "Anatomy of MyPyramid", which is the USDA's new Food Guide Pyramid. We also learned about the five main food groups, what they consist of, and about serving sizes. It's important to not only make healthy food choices in our lives, but to realize the importance of daily physical activity as well.

Students also had an assignment from the Health textbook today, which was due today. The assignment (on a separate sheet of paper): Read pages 248 - 251, complete questions #1 - 5 on page 251.

Take Away: Understand the Food Guide Pyramid and what the five main food groups are.
*Continuous Learning* - Be able to identify the five main food groups of the Food Guide Pyramid.

Homework - Purchase a heart rate monitor strap ($5.00) in the main office if you haven't already.
