Starter #1 - "That's all drugs and alcohol do; they cut off your emotions in the end." --Ringo Starr (Drummer for "The Beatles")
Today students participated in a couple of in-class activities: "Sloppy Joe" and the "Garbled" marshmallow activity. These activities can show us that when people are under the influence of alcohol, their reaction time and motor functions slow down, along with their coordination and judgment. It's funny to hear our friends "garble" their words; alcohol, too, can have this effect on people. However, even though drinking might look/sound funny at first, in reality, drinking is very dangerous, especially the more and more a person drinks. Alcohol has many effects on the body, and they affect not only the person, but everyone else around them as well. All choices have consequences.
Students were given new Starter worksheets today.
Take Away: All choices that we make have consequences that come with them, and consequences don't change. If you make a choice, it could be your last.
*Continuous Learning* - Learn the lifelong effects of Alcohol.
Homework - Purchase a heart rate monitor strap ($5.00) in the main office if you haven't already.
